Big Band NOVA concert
Join us for an unforgettable evening of music at Vila Vipolže featuring the Big Band NOVA. With their dynamic energy, top-tier sound, and timeless melodies, they are set to captivate fans of jazz, swing, and popular music.
Joining the orchestra on stage are three outstanding Slovenian vocalists—Gregor Ravnik, Nina Sirk, and Tanja Srednik. Each bringing their own distinct musical style and impressive stage presence, they regularly charm audiences both at home and abroad, promising a night of extraordinary musical moments.
In addition to traditional jazz repertoire, their arrangements frequently feature popular genres and original compositions written by band members Anže Vrabec, Boštjan Simon, Blaž Pahor, and Damijan Valentinuzzi.
Despite operating on an amateur basis, the orchestra regularly performs full-length concerts, often sharing the stage with well-known figures from the Slovenian music scene, such as Vlado Kreslin, Rudi Bučar, Slavko Ivančič, Tulio Furlanič, Tinkara Kovač, Anika Horvat, Janez Bončina, Nuša Derenda, Alenka Godec, Uroš Perič, Damjana Golavšek, and others.
They take great pride in their ongoing collaboration with Nova Gorica native Tatjana Mihelj, winner of the Melodije morja in sonca 2021 festival, as well as building cross-border connections with Italian singer-songwriter Paola Rossato from Gorizia. The ensemble is currently led by jazz pianist and composer Blaž Pahor.
More About the Performers
Gregor Ravnik is one of the most promising young Slovenian vocalists of his generation. A dentist by profession, he has seamlessly combined his medical background with a high-level vocal career. He became widely known through his performances at major Slovenian music festivals, winning over audiences with his signature tenor, stage charisma, and remarkable vocal interpretation. His repertoire spans pop, Mediterranean music, and timeless Slovenian hits. With his musical polish and warm stage presence, he establishes a unique connection with the audience, making him one of the most respected Slovenian performers of his generation.
Nina Sirk, a young singer from the Goriška Brda region, gained national recognition during the 9th season of Slovenia’s Got Talent (Slovenija ima talent), where she impressed in the semi-finals with her rendition of The House of the Rising Sun. Nina showed exceptional talent at an early age, but was forced to temporarily stop singing in high school due to vocal cord issues. Despite these health challenges, she persevered, returning after her recovery stronger and more dedicated to music than ever. During the show, she was studying musicology at the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana. Later, she decided to deepen her vocal technique and enrolled in jazz singing at the Tartini Conservatory in Trieste. Her performances are known for their powerful vocal delivery and emotional expression as she continues to explore various genres in search of her signature sound.
Tanja Srednik is a jazz and pop singer from Šempeter pri Gorici who trained at the Conservatory of Music in Ljubljana and the Carinthian State Conservatory in Klagenfurt. She has performed with ensembles such as the Jazz Punt Big Band and appeared at numerous festivals. She notably caught the public's attention with her performances of songs by The Beatles, Michael Jackson, and classic Slovenian pop standards (slovenska popevka).
We warmly invite you to join us for a concert that brings together the power of a full jazz orchestra, brilliant vocal performances, and a relaxed summer atmosphere.
