STORY
The staged story takes place at the beginning of the 16th century, when Toyotomi Hideyoshi tried to unify Japan during the shogunate. The play is called Goemon, after the main character, and depicts the class differences between the rich and poor residents of the region. The main character is a thief who very skillfully steals from the rich to give to the poor and resembles a Japanese version of Robin Hood.
KATANAYAICHI GROUP
The group was founded in 2008 by Mizuno Dai, who since 2015 has been traveling around the world with the group in various bands, spreading Japanese culture in a spectacular way. On the 15th anniversary of their founding, they will visit Slovenia as part of a world tour. Mizuno Dai, Yoshino Haruna, Yoshino Teppei, Sasaki Chika, Kai Keigo and Kume Ryohei will perform.

MIZUNO DAI – group leader
While playing lead roles in movies, TV dramas, and theater, Dai began practicing the art of "Dad" sword fighting in 2003. In 2008, he formed his own band called Katanayaichi. He performs on many stages including live shows, dramas and corporate receptions. The Katanayaichi group's program was widely recognized for its creative and innovative series of moves. It offers the essence of classical Japanese dance and Aikido. The blend of traditional and modern Japanese culture creates a whole new experience of "daddy" fighting.
Although there are no more samurais, Japan throughout history and even now in modern times is permeated with the samurai way of thinking. "I feel honored and proud. Today, we find samurai in comic books, manga and anime cartoons, through which readers and viewers learn about the history and life of the samurai and ninja of ancient Japan," says Mizuno.
Their clothes, an updated version of traditional samurai kimonos, are handmade. In their workshop, they also make katanas, samurai swords. For performance purposes, these are made of wood, very light and not dangerous like real katanas.
The event is organized in cooperation with the Japanese Embassy in Slovenia.
